baritone volume and Pepe Romero UBB and UkeLogic string sets

it's not hard to do. very sharp 3/8 bit and multiple holes until you can get center out. then a rotary sanding disc in a drill. koa is very tuff wood. the gloss finish requires some extra care. I've done 3. 2 have been a success. this one was the hardest with the gloss.

baritone volume and Pepe Romero UBB and UkeLogic string sets

Well, the Pepe Romero string hold the tension of the 20" scale OK but I soon got tired of playing with it, leaving me with a comfortable to play but quiet baritone ukulele. Next step is a little more drastic but it really works.

baritone volume and Pepe Romero UBB and UkeLogic string sets

I've made a change. The Romero D string is also OK with the longer scale and is the best sounding so far, although on the Zimnicki, I had to file the bridge and nut slots to allow for the larger gauge..

baritone volume and Pepe Romero UBB and UkeLogic string sets

Pono's have a lot of "bang for the buck". I have a friend who's selling his mango 8 string baritone...I'm stewing on that right now.

baritone volume and Pepe Romero UBB and UkeLogic string sets

don't mean too...and I don't mean to pick on Kanile'a's. Kanile'a builds a beautiful baritone. The body is a little shallower than most and the tone and volume just not for me. Their long neck tenor is the best i've played. The strings just really light a fire under the Zimnicki. I'm gonna...

way long enough...cut about 8" off. The D/G .030 gold smoothwound is available as a single.

baritone volume and Pepe Romero UBB and UkeLogic string sets

I have a Zimnicki baritone...cedar and koa with 20" scale. It is beautiful. It is also as quiet as a Kanile'a baritone. I've owned this twice, buying it new from Elderly, selling it and reacquiring it after the top was refinished, thinking "thinner wood...louder". not so. I have been working...

    Looking for Baritone Uke...

My LoPrinzi's had a flat neck profile and a wide nut...almost 1.5 but had kinda close spacing at the bridge. they were well built and fairly loud.

    Looking for Baritone Uke...

my Collings and my 8 string Beard are tuned DGBE. You need to adjust to a slightly narrower neck but I go back and forth all the time without too much bother

    Kelali Ukuleles

I'd recommend Kelali ukuleles all day long. my experience is with the baritones and they have been great performers. the wookmanship is without flaws. you will be heard in a jam

    Looking for Baritone Uke...

I have had 2 LoPrinzi baritones, cherry and mahogany...both with a very thin neck profile. the necks were very stable and straight. The only one I've seen with a solid wood neck was warped. LoPrinzi only offers the laminated neck now.

    Looking for Baritone Uke...

I thought I'd add my 2 cents here...I agree with most everything posted so far. In your price range , a new Pono would be tough to beat. In the used area, a Loprinzi would be a great choice but only if it were the model with the multi-piece neck. A crack free Favilla is a great ukulele. Of...

Anybody tried Pepe's Baby Baritone strings on a long scale tenor?

call it what you want...if it's got a 19" scale, those strings work very well for DGBE without too much tension...but everyone will have their own preferences

Anybody tried Pepe's Baby Baritone strings on a long scale tenor?

the strings he's talking about are optimized for 19" scale length...short end of what would be considered baritone scale length.

Anybody tried Pepe's Baby Baritone strings on a long scale tenor?

only string set I buy for 19" scale. tension and tone are great and they wear like iron. I do not use the G string however. I use the smoothwound high tension from Ukelogic.(available as a single) It's got more punch. I sold my HF3L but it sounded greaat with this set-up

    Beltona resonator

I've been playing the bright red Beltona baritone resonator uke that I bought a few weeks ago. It had changed hands a couple of times since it was built for Little Rev and I finally caught up to it. Well...it's home now! This tenor bodied, baritone necked ukulele is loud and a joy to play...

    plastic ukes?

the clear Outdoor tenor is great. You might want to add side dots to the neck but it's simple. 3/32 black side dot rods from Stewmac and a sharp 3/32 drill are all you need. locate the hole location and drill slowly. The bit will pass thru a layer of neck material and stop up against a 2nd...

I need advice re: boosting my new ukulele's volume

strings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!change the strings. raising the saddle should be a last resort but if you must...get a taller saddle or have a taller saddle made. A multiple piece saddle will have the reverse effect. Kanilea's are not overly loud to begin with...sorry. any of the strings Kenn2018...
