Dead sounding Pono MC

Just put a set of Worth CM's on the new Pono MC, made a big difference. longer seems dead!
I will say that- after being very careful to cut all the strings exactly in half, the 2nd & 3rd strings were tough to get restrung, definitely NO extra length on those two.
That's great to hear. I know when I found that set that brought it alive, it was a good day. Enjoy!

... had a chance to play a used Pono MS , Mahogany Soprano .
First time experience with the brand .
The controversial neck was a non-issue .
Sounds like an Uke ! I like it !
And loud enough for me .
I don't find the necks an issue at all. And they do seem to improve in tone with time, getting sweeter. At least mine have. Yes, the tops are not as thin as Hawaiian K brands. But they are solid and well made.

Also , the Pono didn't seem overbuilt .
It was light and balanced .
I like it , may even buy one ; not sure if Mahogany or Acacia .

By comparison , Kanile'a Islander Soprano is heavy , unbalanced , and overbuilt .
But it does sound good and the wide 38mm nut is great on a soprano . I like it also .
Sounds good too but the Pono has a more classic uke sound .
