It was hard enough coming up with name for our new puppy. Finding names a 8 ukes seems like too much effort.

None of my ukes have been named but for some reason I say that a couple of them are "pretty" while another is "handsome".

I usually just call my Ukulele, "My beauty." Such as in, "Come hither my beauty! Or "Dost thou require thy nobs twisted, my beauty?" Seems to work for me. And, with over 80 "my beauties" to deal with, it's a lot easier than individual names.

Mine are named; two hole, Kala, mandolele, gypsy jazz, spalted mango, Godin, Lanikai and bamboo. Obviously I don't believe in giving inanimate objects a human type name.

Warning: downer post. I had a custom guitar made for me in 1983. By custom I mean it was from the conception based on my playing, hands, style, keys I played in and every sliver was picked out by me and the Luthier. I lived in the city and spent 3 months visiting his shot 3-4 times a week. Got so much that I bought and stored my own brand of tea. Took 2 years to complete. I played it till my open heart surgery. The ONLY guitar I played. Her name was Carolyn. Open heart surgery went sideways and I lost about 80% of the use of my right arm and constant pain. Ended up not being able to play guitar without serious pain. I could not have her un-played, so I found a new home for her. Turned her into a couple medical bill receipts. Now, I can play ukulele now, and have a dream of one day owning a Martin S1. And I will not name her. Not sure I could go through that again.

OMG I'm so sorry. That's a horrible brutal thing to go through.

I call treble instruments she and bass instruments he, too. If I have a ukubass some day he will have a male name.

I just keep one out and play that one uke, so it's named "ukulele".

I named one of mine once, then promptly forgot the damned name. I said "the hell with it", after that.

I name some, but not all, of mine. Some just seem to have strong personalities and/or stories.
