Hi everyone!
My name is Meja and I am a singer & ukulelist from northern Sweden living in Edinburgh.
I’m self-taught and don’t have many people around me who are familiar with the instrument, so I joined UU to seek some guidance and inspiration!
At the moment I am in the market for a new ukulele. Ive posted a link to some stuff I play on my profile if you anyone wants to have a listen and maybe give recommendations what uke could work for me.
My current one is a Flight Victoria Tenor with D-tuning.

Cheers!

Hejsan Meja! Välkommen till troligen väldens största grupp ukulele enthusiaster. Jag hoppas att du hittar all information du letar efter.

Hi Mejaahve, welcome to the UU Forum.

You might want to look at the reviews on gotaukulele.com and the reviews on the instruments they carry on the SouthernUkuleleStore website. Both are based in the UK and will have info about models sold there.

It looks as though you play a tenor with a cedar or spruce top. And that you play fingerstyle.

Think about why you want a new uke. What to you want it to do that your current one doesn't. If I get one, I hope it has...

Choices are nearly endless. So think about your budget and what features you want vs. need. If you want something bright or warm. Lots of projection. Note clarity vs tons of sustain. Electric acoustic with a pickup. Thin/thick neck, smaller/larger nut width.

Write down a wish list. Read and listen to the reviews and narrow down the choices to a manageable number. Otherwise, you're going to be inundated with suggestions that will be all over the place. From basic Kalas to custom luthier ukes and everything in between. "I love my..."

Enjoyed your duet. Was it recorded in Sweden?

Thank you very much!. I think I will need to look deeper into this. Those are some really useful things to consider and I will definitely have a look at those websites, thank you!

Glad you enjoyed my duet, we recorded it in a church in northern Sweden.

Hi Meja! I am also a newbie. I found Magic Fluke ukulele is very easy to play; I have the Flea. I also enjoy playing Kiwaya KS-1. Both are sopranos. I watched some Youtube videos on ukulele reviews before getting mine, such as GotAUkulele. I have been learning from these Youtube channels: OneMusicSchool and Bernadette Teaches Music. I also found a web like https://ukutabs.com is helpful.

Welcome - nice singing in that video.

Kenn is spot on for the advice and it's very insightful. That might be the best advice post I have seen on the forum so far directed for a particular request.

Good luck Meja in your Ukulele adventures.
