Noob question

This is really stupid, but is it possible to fingerpick and do chords at the same time?

Not stupid at all! Sure you can fingerpick chords. Just finger a chord position, then instead of strumming you pluck with the fingers and thumb. You can pluck all the notes at once to sound the chord, or pluck strings one at a time in a pattern to produce an arpeggio. Fingerpicking style is a combination of playing both melody lines and plucked (and strummed) chords. Hope that helps!
