So, the title explains my problem. My iPhone fall in the water today and I don't know what to do. Any tips? Is there a way to check the speaker or should I address professionals? Thanks in advance.

Place in a plastic bag of rice (uncooked!) right away and then contact others. The rice is a great desiccant. It has worked for cameras.

Turn it off, remove battery if possible. If in dirty or salt water, flush in fresh water, let drip off, place in oven or other place at around 50C an hour or two, turn oven off, wait till next day.

Make sure it is totally dry before you turn it on; just let it dry for a week. Remove as much covering as you can to help the drying process.

Agreed. The worst thing you can do is turn it on to see if it is working while there is still water that might cause a short circuit. Maybe contact Apple directly (if nothing else, they may offer a refurbished replacement at an excellent price).

I had the same problem with my iPhone 8. I put it in a silica gel packet. Then I turned it on. It worked, but my speaker sounded weird. My friend suggested using a hard water cleaner. This is an application (I chose Clear Wave) that helps to make the speaker sound clear. To be honest, I was skeptical, but the result really surprised me. Hopefully, it will also be helpful for you. Good luck!

The rice trick is tried and true. If my iPhone got wet, that's exactly what I'd do. Oh, and I spent 8 months working as a "Specialist" (Blue Shirt) in an Apple Store several years ago, and still keep up with the tech. So, I do have some relevant knowledge and experience.
