"By This River", by Brian Eno, for concert ukulele with singing, overdubs of Ashbory Ubass, tenor ukulele, and tenor ukulele controlled synthesizer. Thanks for hosting, Brian (and what a confluence of Brians!).

Here is a children song that I think everyone knows. Just verses. This one is really an one trick pony.
Played some clawhammer for this.
My version has these things This Old Man played knick-knack on/with:
1.His thumb
2.My shoe
3.Up in the tree
4.At my door
5.Rise and shine
6.With his stick
7.Up to heaven
8.Wearing my slacks
9.Groans and sighs
10.Broke his chain

I had fun playing this after work, but it sounded a bit boring it think. So I added a few dancing santa to add some colour. :----)

another song with only verses. This is by Jon. I did this recently for Mikkel's season. It is such a cheerful song so I am bringing it again.
I would like to dedicate this to Val. <3

here are the lyrics(I hope I haven't misheard them)
I once was a baby in my mama's knee
And I loved her and she loved me
That's the way life's meant to be to be
Well the big things grow from the little seeds
Chase them rainbows, follow your dreams
That's the way life's meant to be to be
I once was a fly who was chased by a spider
Who was chased by a rat who was chased by a cat
Who was chased by a dog who was chased by a flea, a flea
Well the hound dog barked, and the cat jumped high
The rat got bitten by a mosquito or a fly
That's the way life's meant to be to be
Now we learn from the old, we encourage the young
We open the curtains to the morning sun
That's the way life's meant to be to be
Well the rain needed to fall so the sun could shine
For every thing there's a season in time
That's the way life's meant to be to be
If you are young or old or somewhere in between
Chase them rainbows, follow your dreams
That's the way life's meant to be to be!

It's a good week for Bob Dylan songs, I think. Here's one, that I'm not sure ever got an official release, but there's certainly a couple of versions on various volumes of The Bootleg Series.

One of the verses is instrumental, which might be cheating, but I couldn't resist having a go.

Two college buddies named Lyle and Robert wrote this a long time ago- and I love it. One of a handful of songs I can always remember all the words to, though I have never understood why. Anyway, a story about Texas for ya, most excellent theme Pa.

Hey, Pa.
When you said, "No relief of a chorus," this is the song that sprang to mind. I can't get no relief. I also can't really reggae like TCK, but I decided to try for that kind of flavour anyway.

Ahoy and merry xmas season (or merry whatever you do or do not celebrate - here we call the season 'jól' and we say 'gleðileg jól' for merry xmas)
It's been a while so I have a Beck song that consists only of verses
Sleeping bag

Jon and I wrote an one chord song together for your theme, Brian.
Jon put it to music and did everything. I sang some harmonies and use some portraits of Seasonistas I made over the years to make this video.

(Am throughout)
I take this song out for a walk on this summer's day
I wear my cheeriest frock but my heart is grey

My song has no refrain My song gives no relief
All I hear is the rain running down my sleeve

I take this song out for a walk down Hopeful Lovers' Bay
But my song has no bridge to bring you back to me

You won't find no chorus here Every word I sing is wrong
All you'll find's one lonely man walking this here song

Here’s another verses only offering. James Hill’s arrangement of Summertime. It’s instrumental, which I guess makes it a pony with even fewer tricks.

Here is my entry for this week. It's a traditional song I arranged back in 1984 when I was a semi-pro folk singer.
Many folk songs, especially ballads, fit the bill for this week. They don't have a chorus, as such, and tell the tale to the same melody in every verse. As this one does.

Hope you like:

That was outstanding!

I could feel my ship pitch and roll.
