Wood Glue or Super Glue?

Only ever use wood glue.

Hot hide glue is best if you're set up for it, otherwise red Titebond is a close second. Be sure to carefully scrape all of the old glue off of the gluing surfaces of the top and the bridge. You want to glue wood to wood, and with some clamping pressure. If you use hot hide glue, and you're sure that it was used for the original build, you don't need to be as scrupulous with cleaning the surfaces, because hot hide glue will bond to itself.

I know that was posted in jest, but not always... supposedly it was first developed as a "wound sealer" and is still used today to seal cuts and even close surgical incisions.

True... A friend of mine was bit by a shark and some of his wounds were closed with super glue... and it is frequently used by vets I believe.
I use if frequently to glue the knots on my bead making projects... see the SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION thread for examples. One tiny drop and the knot will never come untied!
This thread just gave me a flashback to my childhood, when these commercials were everywhere on TV...

Regular Cyanoacrylate like Super Glue can cause skin irritation and burns.
It was used in Vietnam in a spray to stop bleeding and close wounds to get the soldiers to the hospital before they bled to death.
I seem to remember a brouhaha about eye surgeons using it for cataract surgeries and the FDA saying it wasn't approved. And the containers weren't sterile.
There is a medical version that was developed for wounds and incisions that doesn't burn.

For a bridge, on a high quality instrument, PLEASE ONLY use hot hide glue!
Wood glue creeps and is almost impossible to remove from porous materials, and hot hide glue won't stick to it. Super glue does not fill gaps and is brittle.
The correct answer is hot hide glue. I'd frankly be beyond astonished if Martin used anything else.
