I've been flipping back and forth on getting a mahog. soprano and am now kicking myself for missing out on the Favilla.

Does anyone have a nice one (most any make, vintage or newer) in about the $200-250 range with hard or rigid foam case, including shipping CONUS and Paypal?

Cheers
Jim

Most of the time when people post to the marketplace looking for something they are looking to ge a good deal on a solid used one, and I appreciate that. However, if you wanted to consider new, the Ohana SK-25 is a solid mahogany uke that can be had at MIMs or Elderly for $160. Add a case and you are right in your range. It is a fantastic uke! I thought about pulling the trigger on the Favilla as well, but didn't because I am more than happy with my Ohana.

Here is Baz Maz's review of the SK-25: http://www.gotaukulele.com/2012/10/ohana-sk-25-soprano-ukulele-review.html

Good luck with your search!

Keep watch on the marketplace and the other sites for a nice vintage soprano ukulele. The market is down, for instance,
A 1930s Sherwood Style 1 that looked in fine shape was sold for under $100 on ebay this week. Sherwoods were made by Gretch. A 60 year old Gretch is certainly equal to a Favilla of that era. If you see something vintage that you are not familiar with ask here or me.

Thanks for the input so far. I considered (and still am considering) the Ohana (SK-35) so it's great to hear such great reviews.

Just thought I'd see what else might be out there that folks might be trying to move.

I could be convinced to re-home a Kiwaya KS-1, Jim. It's a laminate, but man, you wouldn't know it by sound or feel.

Shoot me a PM if you want more info. If not, good luck in the search.

I have a Mele "Braddah" solid mahog soprano. Excellent condition with light strum marks. No dings, chips, etc. Believed to be 2nd owner and possibly still has the original strings. Comes with original hard case and paper hang tag. I bought several years ago, but have since move to playing mostly tenors. Best guess from info I found was made sometime in the mid to late 1990's. $250 plus actual shipping charges. If interested let me know and will send some photos.

Strum on! Mike

Thanks all for the posted offers and PMs. I'll keep watching but am going to be in Lansing for Mighty Uke Day weekend May 9/10 and if nothing catches my fancy before then try the Ohanas (and others) at Elderly.

Cheers all.
