Zoom A2 Pedal

I got one of these a few weeks ago (December 25th actually ) and I'm loving it. I always have hated using the pick-ups in my ukes that have them, because all you get is string sound. You loose all the warmth of the instrument IMO. So, I've been wanting something to get that unplugged sound, while being plugged in, and this little baby seems to do the trick.
It has some effects that I think are a little gimmicky and I'll probably never use, but a lot more settings that sound really nice. I've used it with active and passive pickups, it even gives my solid body Eleuke a nice acoustic sound.

Interesting solution Deg. I sort of like the clean sound of the under-saddle pickups, but ended up with a tenor without one, so...

Having Scottish blood on my mothers side of the family, my solution was even cheaper - I just installed a JJB PPS-100 passive acoustic pickup on my tenor, which came with no pickup. It was $14.99 with free shipping. Being basically a microphone, it delivers whatever sound you make on the instrument, and not just string sounds. That can be a problem for some because any banging on the body comes through and it is much more prone to feedback in noisy environments. I am very pleased with how "acoustic" these pickups sound, however. The type of sound you want is something often overlooked when buying a uke with a pickup, but if you have a uke with an under saddle pickup already and want acoustic sound, then something like the A2 is a good option.

Of course, I don't get all the cool effects the A2 gives you, but since I record with an H4 and Audacity, I can make my tenor sound like Metallica that way lol. Here is a small sound pickup on, pickup off, sound sample I recorded with it before. I guess I should have turned off the reverb to give a true acoustic sample.

If you're not into all the effects that the Zoom A2 has, it provides a full, warm acoustic sound that you can tweak to your liking.. at around $30
I have one, and it seems too good to be true at such a low price.

I have a few different ways of achieving different sounds, i have a nice marshall amp that does a lot. I have added effects using recording programs after recording.

I also use one of these http://www.gak.co.uk/en/digitech-rp-90/1603 I have the older version, It's pretty inexpensive and very easy to use.
