Thank you Ms Bean, that’s great, that’ll keep me busy. I came across Abigail Flowers when I first got my baritone but I couldn’t remember her name so I’m grateful for that prompt. I really love her...
Is that the late Mike Lynch of Youtube? I haven’t seen those books, where do you get them?
When I play the baritone like a concert it still sounds nice but it doesn’t sound right with my voice when I sing along.
Ms Bean do you have a few top favourite songs for the baritone?
I still feel like a total beginner sometimes where I flit from one song to another, memorise it for a day or two then get...
I got my first uke (a concert) last spring then a baritone at Christmas. It’s helped me a lot having to relearn chords. I’ve realised before I was playing single chords and thinking hard about...
Christian. Your private message is inappropriate and fortunately I am strong enough that I didn’t react badly to it but I could have quite easily, especially the last sentence.
The fact is that...
Im glad you said they have a lot of stretch. I dont have your experience so wasnt sure if I had strung them correctly and mine are the same although they are going out of tune a little less each time...
Sorry but I don’t agree. In my scenario the bees are invisible, they stick to your clothing and every time I go out I am at risk of bringing them back into my home to vulnerable members of my family...
I agree, its hard to evaluate risk with an unknown. I have never been stung by a bee so I dont know if I have an allergy to them. For me its the same thing.
This is a great reminder to us newbies to try and stop watching our fingers :)
I find bad habits so much easier to acquire than good habits (hides the leftover Christmas biscuits)
1. Improve strumming while singing
2. Memorise more songs
3. Write a simple song
4. Hug my son
My Worth Browns arrived today.
I’ve only been playing since May and had never changed a string before but after watching a dozen YouTube videos managed to swap them all over!
They sound lovely...
So they solve the sound problem but feel a bit weird? I’m hoping I can get used to that! Now I’m off to research nut files ;)
I’ve ordered some Worth Browns too so it’ll be interesting to hear how you compare the two when you get yours (although for tenor I know)
You must be happy just to be rid of those wound strings....
Oh great, I am eagerly awaiting your update!
My partner asked me today if now I have a baritone I will be selling my concert. No words were needed, just the look on my face :D
If only our music shops were open!
I think I’ve found the solution. I’ll buy Worth’s and LW and then I’ll have to get another baritone uke :D
Thank you. I do like a warmer sound..... gosh I think I'm over-thinking all of this!!
That widening of the slot to fit new strings seems a bit daunting to me, truth be told. My partner is pretty handy so maybe I'll sit him down in front of some youtube videos!
Oh darn! Haha
Covid put a stop to that this year. Not everyone was sad about it!!
How are you feeling now Lifestion?
I love stream of consciousness posts. Can you do a regular slot Mike?!
Does anyone have any thoughts about Worth Browns versus Living Water? I seem to have narrowed my search down to these two.
Thank you! Yes I’m a spoilt Mum this year : )
Please let me know how you get on. I received a Kala baritone for Christmas and I’m not keen on the wound strings. It sounds like someone rubbing dry hands together when I strum!
