I would agree that it probably should not be a deciding factor on a uke purchase. It does make barre chords a bit easier, which of course is why electric guitars have them. But if you don't have an...

That is really a neat looking uke, and I love how compact it is. I think I would fall for that too.
Welcome back. And condolences on the job loss. I was "made redundant" from my first career in 2004, and took 2 1/2 years to find another job - so I know your pain.
What part of Yorkshire? I...
Something just looks WRONG with that build. Traditionally a 12 fret uke had the saddle at the widest point of the lower bout, supposedly at the sweet spot. And of necessity a 14 fret design had the...
Another DYI option would be to scallop the fretboard, which would have much the same effect as using taller frets. Pretty drastic though, and not something that you could ever undo.
Taller frets can make fretting easier, but it also makes it easy to pull the strings sharp. Refrets aren't inexpensive, but it's a reasonable modification for an instrument you like. Just be aware...
Well I don't own one (yet....) but I've always fancied the Uke shirt that says "I Play Ukulele - Don't Ask Me To Sing".
Well I haven't contacted Joel yet, but I thought I would ask him for a set of 0.019, 0.025, 0.028, and 0.036, with the 28 being from the hard set.
From what we've seen posted here, the Worth...
I tried them to see if they might offer the quality and sound of my favorite Living Waters strings, at perhaps a lower tension. I did like the sound, and the thinner A string (0.019" vs 0.022") and...
I would agree. With a standard nut it's not uncommon to find stock action at the first fret as high 0.040" to 0.050". Way over the ideal goal of 0.015" to 0.020", but at least it won't buzz, and...
Well I've had my Farallon since the fall of 2016. The body seems free of scratches, BUT my older version is matte, not gloss. For some reason the headboard is gloss, and does show some scratches...
Well as I said, I had one of the Full Carbons and sent it back. I rather liked the looks, but, like you did not care for a tiny headstock that made it all but impossible to mount any type of clip on...
As a carbon fiber fan from way back (got my first CF guitar about 2008) I will be super interested. Particularly in your opinion of the Klos All Carbon, since I sent mine back for a refund.
Well the "correct" thing to do is probably ream the holes out to allow you to glue in dowel rods. Then you could re-cut whatever size hole you need. Tape would work, but it's sure to fail long term.
Well REAL banjo players might be the best to answer this question, but I leave the bridge up on mine all the time - in the case, and while transporting to a jam too. But I did modify the case with...
Eb can also be played 0331, which should be fairly easy to reach from a 3211 Bb.
I ordered mine with the Pegheds, and am not impressed. They stick, and are hard to use - though I imagine they are better than the friction tuners that are stock.
I bought one of the Firefly Tenor Banjo Ukes the first year they were available, and have really enjoyed it. Just the other day I replaced the Aquila banjo uke strings with Living Waters and it now...
I had the opportunity to get the MiSi system for free at a local store when I bought my Farallon, but turned it down. I don't ever expect to need amplification, so I just didn't want something that...
I'm sure that's what I did - ken@livingwaterstrings.com. I believe he will put together a custom set (at a slightly higher price) of just about any combination of string gauges that he carries.
Interesting. I tried a set of Uke Logic low tension strings, and really liked their super thin A string, 0.019" vs the 0.022" of the Living Waters I use. And the E, 0.025" vs the 0.026" of Living...
Well if you like fluorocarbon you can buy a pack of just four A strings from Living Waters.
Why does the phrase "It was my understanding that there would be no math....." come to mind? Nice work.
Interesting. But if anyone cares to spend a bit more, I would certainly recommend this Hosco set of Ukulele specific nut files. Their V shape makes them a bit easier to use than my StewMac single...
I purchased pretty much the same case from Sweetwater for my banjo uke. The uke rattled around a bit too much, so I added some foam that holds it in place pretty well and keeps any pressure off of...
