That's awesome, Joseph! Jonathan does such beautiful work and he's so easy to work with! It's funny...I was just thinking yesterday about if I should commission another Jupiter uke. And here you come...

Check out Sparrow Ukuleles . Beautiful, well-made, and sound great.
I'd be more concerned about the cracks in the soundboard.
I guess it would depend on your future plans for the instrument. If you want it just put back in condition for playing, a good, local luthier should be able to take care of it fairly easily. If...
I just received a notice that Elderly Instruments has a 20% off sale on ALL Hal Leonard music books, including approx. 133 specifically for ukulele. Might be a good time to work on new tunes and...
Abe Deshotel has a great ukulele song playlist on Spotify. It's not exactly radio, but it's sorta like radio.

I heard rumors that he might be working on a similar book, except arranged for High G rather than Low G. That'll also be a must purchase for me.
My current stable is pretty good. All the instruments are better than me as a player and I have most of the options covered. I don't care for sopranos, so I don't need one, I've got both High and Low...
I bought two; my custom Jupiter Tenor and an Ohana Baritone. If you count the custom build I purchased and then returned because of quality issues, it's three.
My cedar-topped Cocobolo Concert fits very nicely in this Crossrock hard case. I do have a strap button installed but it doesn't cause any fit issues.
This particular model number is CRW700CUTW, but...
In general, I agree that the appearance of the wood for a lot of factory-built ukuleles has recently declined. My relatively-inexpensive KoAloha concert was built in 2015 and I'd put the wood up...
Thank you!
Very nice, Joseph! One question...I have Paul Mansell's "Classical Uke" book but I don't see an arrangement by that name. Am I missing something?
HMS has a nice selection of Pono Baritones that might fit your requirements. All their instruments have sound samples posted with them, so you can let your ears do the shopping.
Another...
Cocobolo definitely ships with real Worth Browns.
Not sure if they're hugely different from the Browns but I'd definitely check out the Uke Logic Soft Tension strings.
Just a follow-up on the Galli strings. I've been playing the Jupiter Tenor pretty hard for the past few days and I'm really starting to warm up to the sound. I'm not sure if it's the uke breaking in...
I'm not a fan of overly-decorated instruments, but the first thing that struck my eye was those two big, ugly Phillips screw heads holding down the bridge. With all the inlay and artwork that went...
Jeff Peterson's "Graded Repertoire for Classical Ukulele" is great for Low G arrangements. Difficulty levels range from Beginner/Intermediate all the way to "Not in My Lifetime!"
I also...
OK, I'll be honest. Some of the curly and spalted samples you all have posted are pretty nice. I guess what turns me off is the look of the plain mango without any interesting figuring or color...
Just curious...does the sound quality of a Mango wood ukulele override its ugliness? Honestly, it would have to be an amazing-sounding instrument to justify the appearance. I'd be tempted to play it...
The books are strictly notation and tablature sheets. However, there are dozens (hundreds?) of instructional YouTube videos that Mike had recorded and many of those are tunes that are included in the...
Here are a couple of jazz books for ukulele:
- Duke on Uke: 18 Duke Ellington Compositions Arranged for Ukulele - Paul Hemmings (Low G tuning)
- Jazz Ukulele: Comping, Soloing, Chord Melodies - Abe...
I was going to wait a while before I replaced the Harmony Baritone I recently sold, but then I found an excellent deal on this Ohana BK-70M Baritone. (Solid Spruce Top, Lam. Mahogany Back & Sides)...
Are you going to install them yourself? I didn't want to mess around with a reamer and make a mess, so I had my local guitar guy do the installation on my KoAloha.
My Moon Bird Tenor came with aNueNue Blackwater strings. I sampled a couple of other brands, but I went back to the original Blackwaters. I find them comparable to Worth Browns. The only problem is...
