Wonderful to hear the end of the story concerning the Dias ukulele. Very thoughtful and generous of you to donate it to the Bishop Museum, where it can hopefully be seen by many.

Why not combine the best of both worlds, with your 14-year old on guitar and you on the ukulele?
Taking this thread a bit further afield, and following up on rafter's comment that it would be interesting to hear a Kamaka guitar, anyone with similar curiosity should visit the Ukulele Friends...
Although a fair amount of effort is necessary to mine the information you're looking for, I encourage you to visit the Ukulele Friends Hawaii Facebook page. Since the start of the pandemic they have...
I'll second Bill's endorsement of the Ukulele Friends Hawai'i Zoom meetings. Each one is a mix of light-hearted and more serious discussions. Each one contains some unexpected gems.

What an odd and sad coincidence. Yesterday I watched his YouTube performance of Hallelujah at the Ukulele Festival Hawaii 2017. I've watched it multiple times over the years and happened across it...
I just tried accessing Legacy Guitar Works on the web and was unsuccessful. A Facebook site shows up on Google, but, when I tried the two links, one came back with a "content unavailable" message and...
If all this does is prove that I have an untrained ear, so be it. I do hear a pronounced difference between the two. The second sounds much fuller and richer. And it does show that, without studio...
Were you blindfolded when playing the instruments? If not, do you think the visual aesthetics influenced what you heard? I've played multiple instruments, one after the other, while recording on a...
It appears to be a close match to the Supertone, under "Ukuleles by Other Makers". In particular, the headstock, fretboard extension, and bridge/saddle shape are the same. A listing by reverb.com...
The following, from Lardy's Ukulele Database, likely answers your question about vintage:
"Sam Chang was a Hawaiian luthier/producer working from the 1920's through to the 1940's. He started out...
I'll second the notion that being left-handed may help with shaping chords. As a left-hander playing righty, and with no preconceptions or musical background, it just seemed to make sense to me to...
Which portion are you referring to? Tobias, Kalei, or Corey? The song Kalei is playing is tormenting me, because I recognize it; just can't name it.
I was able to find the following on Lardy's Ukulele Database website:

[QUOTE=Diogenes Blue;2155503]Cincinnati Ohio. Or just over the river from it.
Is that a shark's fin in the view of the flood?
Lest people get too discouraged about the ukulele being for the old folks in the crowd (a group to which I belong), my wife and I saw the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain yesterday for the second...
Based on the headstock, the uke in the window appears to be a Bohemian Guitars oilcan ukulele. Barry Maz reviewed one not too long ago...
The double dot & diamond looks nice. The contrast between the fretboard (rosewood?) and binding is stunning. What did you use for the binding?
You don't have to look any further than Ukulele Underground for an example of a sad or poignant song that is a classic on the ukulele. The song is Aloha 'Oe by Queen Liliuokalani. It's a song about...
Sorry to hear that. They were a wonderful team. I hope they both experience success in their futures.

I'm using an iMac, macOS Mojave (version 10.14.2), Safari internet browser (version 12.0.2). I haven't tried other browsers, but that may be worth a try.
Alan,
Thanks for supplying the link. That's the exact same link that generated the spam message when I tried to reply to the OP.

I too hope it will get fixed. I detailed a host of problems I was having a few days ago in a thread on the Site Suggestions board. Just a few minutes ago, I tried to direct somebody to a site that...
It gives me a forbidden spam message when I try to include the link, but try googling "Breedlove tonewoods" and see if that helps you.
I just tried inserting one image as suggested. It's an 80kb jpg file, and I get a message saying I've exceeded my quota by 72.4kb.
