Good question to pose in the luthier forum.
I also want to add that I have a solid maple Kala that I like very much. It's a keeper. I'm not a fan of the the tone on cheaper laminates, including Kalas, Ohanas, and Lunas that I've tried, though...
Uke Republic is good, but please don't exclude the Ukulele Site (HMS) from your sites to look at. They are one of THE best uke shops out there. Setups are free if the instrument is $399 and over, $40...
Congrats! Romero Creations makes really nice ukes. I think my next uke will be one of theirs. The hard part is deciding which one. I do like these Replicas!
That's a beautiful KoAloha. I'm a tenor person myself, and I love my KoAloha tenor. Somebody's going to have a really sweet concert for a great price.
It does look dyed.
Cynthia Lin is a decent instructor, but she is definitely exaggerating the amount of pressure or force needed to strum. I don't think you'll have much trouble picking up strumming on the uke. Her...
I mentioned Romero Creations. There's about 3 that I want, but can't make up my mind. The Tiny Tenor is at the top of my list for a next uke. Which one do you have? Koa, mahogany, the laminate?
Well congrats! What size are you looking to get? That will affect the price. And how do you like to play? Strumming, or fingerpicking? If it was me, I'd be looking at tenors and trying to get a...
That MB is sweet for sure!
Steedy, that is beautiful!
Waiting to see your baritone!
Even with all the years I noodled with my guitars, my ears were always better than my playing ability :biglaugh: . Have fun with your daughter! It's a wonderful thing to be able to share the joy of...
What a great sounding soprano! I was very surprised to hear that you're going to sell it.
Here is a nice Pono Pro Classic, spruce and mahogany. Give the sound sample a listen: https://theukulelesite.com/pono-mtc-s-pc-8026.html?qty=1
Certainly, I will measure tomorrow. :) Also, shipping is free at The Ukulele Site for ukes over $400. Set up is free too. I've never received anything from them that disappointed me. Every uke has...
This ^^^. I would not pay $900 plus for an Opio. It is not high end, but mid. A true KoAloha, yes, that's worth $900 plus. I have a KoAloha KTM-00 and it's a beautiful instrument. You might want to...
Well that's great that it's solid mahogany! Just get an Oasis in-string humidifier, fill it once a week or so with distilled water, and you're good to go. Keep it in the case when not in use....
Congrats to you! Enjoy!
Hey, I resemble that remark! :biglaugh:
It looks lovely. What is the width at the nut?
A 34mm nut width on a tenor would be a deal breaker for me. My preference is for tenors, so this just took Martins off my radar.
If it doesn't bother you how it looks then that would be one concern less. Personally, the KSM is too nice of a uke to be butchered like that for me.
I referred someone to this uke from a FB forum, who wanted to upgrade his inexpensive starter uke but only had $200 to spend. I'm seriously surprised that he didn't come check it out. It would have...
I just had a uke shipped by FedEx, and it cost less than $30. The great thing bout FedEx was that it only took 2 days.
