    You can probably fix it yourself. Scrape off the old glue in the joint with a knife. Apply new glue and clamp.
    A couple photos of the joint would help to see how bad it is.

    Ditto on the walnut option. Its one of the easier woods to bend in my experience. Smells nice too
    I've done walnut tops and they sound great. I'd shoot for 0.070" for the top and sides.

    I don't think the neck joint type matters (heresy, I know). Pick the one you're most comfortable with.
