I wonder if the koa/flame patterns on the HPL top/back will be exactly the same on on each one, per the picture, or vary slightly? The stock Martin photos look good, but I've been fooled before :( ...
Never had an OXK, but they sounded great on my OX bamboo, which is basically the same thing. Great all around string IMO. The only thing is, the C string is fatter than many other sets. Works fine...
The Sweetwater website says: "we expect these to arrive in a few months"
I'd consider the usual Grover 9w tuners on the C1K and T1K ukes as budget tuners, at about $15.00/set retail. The Graphtech Ratio geared tuners are closer to $30.00/set retail.
They did make a C1 uke in mahogany, it was called the C1 Uke Special. There is one on eBay now, but all the examples I've seen there (about a dozen over the last year or 2) are being sold in Japan,...
Deleted, as post was truncated
I bet the OXK concert, with $299.00 list price, will sell well. Wonder what the street price will be?

Looks like the T1 Streetmaster tenor has the back-facing Graphtech Ratio geared...
You can't close it, only the mods can. Don't worry, we won't impeach you ;)
Yes, you have 2 different threads going on this same topic, see screenshot below

A solid cedar top Kala KA-ATP-CTG-CE, with pickup and cutaway might be worth consideration. Smooth mellow tone right out of the box, and highly regarded here. I got a used non-electric version for...
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Rob.
Good one Pa! Written by Guy Clark, also covered by Kenny Chesney and Kris Kristofferson.
To me, it sounds like they were made in Japan. Nice find, hope you fix it up. If no cracks, you may just need a new tuner. If it was mine, I'd first get a $17.00 set of Ping friction tuners (link...
I still think it's strange the Koaloha does not publish anything about the Koalana ukes on their website, where they list all the various series of Koaloha and Opio ukes. The Koalana ukes were...
Yes, to instantly drop tuning on the string. Usually I only see one of these on a bass for drop-D. A set of four would cost $280.00, an expensive mod!

Speaking of koa, this one looks pretty sweet!

If the problem comes back, you could add a very thin washer between the tuner and hack of headstock to gain more grip, which seems less invasive than cutting a bit off of the screw end.
With winter in-home humidity in the 20s-30s, I always keep 2 tenors in my enclosed humidity box (easily maintains 60% or more for weeks, I like em juicy), and any others are stored in cases with...
No, my gold label sop had smaller tuners, with smaller screw heads. I like the look of the UPTs I've seen on recent Kamakas: black, with white oval buttons.
Wow, nice find Tracie! Looks like a beauty. Not sure on the tuners, but my gold label soprano had tiny post holes, UPTs would have needed reaming.
Is this only an Apple thing? I post from a Windows PC and an Android phone, and have never had these issues.
UNLESS I'M MISSING SOMETHING, the specs show 8.1 mm as bushing size for the Grover 6 tuners...but nothing for the Grover 2, which appear cone shaped.

Is this the one?

The thing about tapered reamers is that the bushing is not tapered. So, by the time you get the bottom of the hole wide enough to fit the bushing, the top is wider than it needs to be. Not a big...
