Huh. You have the CF35 tuned to F3 on 20" scale? That must be incredibly high tension. I have the CF30 as F3 on 19" scale.

Ripock- if I understand you correctly, you have reentrant cFAD on 19" scale. I also have cFAD on a super tenor using strings designed for "bari tuned tenor". If you go up a step to dGBE, that's not...

6 months ago I would have said Southcoast. This was their thinnest linear tuning.

Your plan for the bottom 3 sounds fine. Where to find a thin enough fluorocarbon is the question? I would try one...

If you want wide baritone, look at the Islander or Cordoba Mini. The Mini starts at $199 and is a great bargain. Just don't get the cutaway/electirc version as they have a narrower neck.

Hmm, well, if the iPad mic is sufficient for your needs, then fine, but I have to believe the Zoom will provide much greater quality even if recording in MP3 mode as long as it is a decent bit rate...

Haha! A reputation well earned. But this is DGBE, not crazy at all. If you want to turn it into a tenor, I'd go with linear Bb with Living Water low G tenor strings.

Yup, not a question of "kind" of instrument but design of instrument. Decide what scale length you want and what neck width you want and then choose. If you want a wide neck, you can get it in tenor...

It's a tie bridge but Tom (and maybe owners before that) are using the bead method - strings tied to the bead instead of tied to the bridge. Honestly I'm not sure what the advantage is but it works...

Uh oh, hope it's not cursed. I saw a movie once about a red violin whose owners didn't turn out so well, but all of y'all are still alive, so maybe I'll be all right too.

You can get narrower necks from 44mm (1-3/4"), 46, 48, and 50mm (2") on guileles but I haven't seen any production ones with a radius fretboard.
