Was playing Fremonr Soloist for a while as my low G, but tried a set of Romero linear (with unwound low G), and like them a lot, plus they last much longer than the wound Soloist.

Yeah, haven't heard much about the Sugars lately. I could not take the squeak, but they did sound great otherwise.

    3 tenor tunings compared

As others have mentioned, sometimes ukes sound better in different tunings. I've found that tenors often sound better tuned down a 1/2 step to B, or a full step down to Bb. My personal favorite on...

A koa top with mango B&S would be cool, sorta like the Kanilea Oha ukes, which pair a koa top with mahogany B&S.

I was watching this one on eBay. The opening bid of $399.00, including shipping, stood for the entire auction. Then, at the very end, it sold for $459.00. Sounds like a sweet deal!

    Magic - The Cars cover

Halloween is coming! How about some Magic? This is a song by the Boston based band The Cars. I know, kinda poppy. The band's leader, Ric Ocasek, recently passed away. RIP to Ric.

I also like these Ratios a lot, but found the tuner posts excessively long. I kept them on, as I like the no-ears look, and they work well on this inexpensive tenor uke, despite one of the posts...

Yes, laminate ukes can require humidification too. Sure the body is much less prone to cracks, but too dry can cause braces to loosen inside, and fret sprout on the edges of fingerboard. Once you...

    Kanilea Oha tenor

These were new for 2019. Haven't heard much about them. All solid, koa top, mahogany B&S, same TRU bracing. Has anybody played one, and what did you think? Wondering how they sound compared to...

Wow, surprised on those 2, I expected the exact opposite, as I always thought Kanilea tenors had 1.5" nut.

Converting those to metric, I got:

    Kamaka HF-3 nut=36.5 mm string spread=30.16...

It's all personal. Just play the uke you have, are there times you feel cramped on certain chords or fingerings? Many folks are perfectly happy on the standard 35mm nut, and 27-29mm string spread ....

I have some hand issues, and wide nuts and string spacing really help my playing. I can play standard 35mm nuts, but do way better on them if the string spacing is 30mm or better.
  25. K-Brand tenor Nut Width/String Spacing specs

I've never played any of these ukes, but aspire to own one some day. Just wondering on the nut width and string spacing at the nut on these 3 models, as they come from the factory. I like wide...
