    @Oldtimer, I love my Kamaka soprano too. It's my favorite ukulele because it behaves very well throughout its dynamic range. I think it may have to do with its arched back, allowing it to use less...

    Thanks for the replies.

    The ukulele is a Kala KA-SSLNG.
    On Kala's website, it doesn't say what wood the bridge is made of, but it looks like the fretboard wood, which is laurel.

    I received an...

    @Kenn2018, ah, good points on the nut, thanks ; would a low G put into a high-G nut slot produce buzz on the open string? I'll also mention the pickup and jack.

    @badhabits, thanks for the info....

    I guess they are necessary for the low end ukuleles, i.e. they actually help keep the costs down even when they add an extra extra material to the manufacture. It makes sense to me.

  11. Crushed bridge string hole when tensioning string; normal?

    Hi,

    I restrung my concert-scale soprano uke with Martin M600 fluorocarbon strings.

    While tensioning the A-string to pitch, I heard a wood cracking sound. I noticed the string has crushed the...
  12. Advantages of screwed down bridge for ukulele?

    I noticed some ukuleles (actually, pretty much all the cheap ones I see on Aliexpress) use screwed down bridge instead of glue-only, i.e. they seem to not only glue the bridge but also screwed it...

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I'll change the neck relief comment based on your feedback. I agree with you that some positive neck relief sometimes may be necessary for the larger sizes.

    Thanks for the heads up!
    I don't even know why, but I just bought a tenor ukulele.

    Should I thank you or hate you? :)
    Now I'm going to find out why tenors are so popular here on UU.
