If a song is in a key of C...is it wrong to sing in a lower key while still playing the song in C? To me it doesn't necessarily sound wrong...

I was a bad girl and put a Boulder Creek Riptide tenor uke on layaway :D Can't wait to get it next weekend!!! It has a wonderful bell like tone and is a gorgeous instrument...definitely an upgrade...I tried out 12 different ukuleles and this one stole my heart! ECUT-2CS Tenor...
