Advice on solid body uke - radius fretboard

Jim, I know about that one, and it is probably what I'll wind up with since I can't afford the pono and there don't seem to be other options, but I'd really like a radius, I'm finding it really cuts down on hand pain for me.

Advice on solid body uke - radius fretboard

I have a godin uke that I use for high g. Now that I'm starting to play out more, I'm finding I need a reliable low g 'plug innable' (that's the technical term we musicians use) to my amp. Ideally I'm looking for something solid body, already set up for low g, and with a radius fretboard. And...

Emerald Guitars makes a uke/harp made entirely from carbon fiber.

I have one. I very much recommend it. Even without playing the harp strings they give a richness to the overall sound that i was really surprised by. I think for what you are getting the price is reasonable. Happy to answer any questions.

Changing strings on an emerald harp ukulele

Thanks so much everyone! I wound up finding a bead in my 11 year old's collection that fit perfectly. I feel a little silly that I didn't think of this but... It has been very tentatively tuned up to pitch twice with no snaps!

That’s a picture of it, the bead won’t fit in the groove at all.

Changing strings on an emerald harp ukulele

At some point recently, one of my strings on my harp ukulele snapped. There was a bead that cracked in half. I messaged the company, and they told me to buy a regular bead for a guitar, but it is not fitting into the slot correctly/I cannot figure out how to change the string. Has anyone who has...

Some specific questions related to playing out

I have the opportunity to play at a gallery opening in 2 weeks. I was just informed of it a few days ago. I said yes, because I need to say yes more, but a few things have come up: mainly that I don't have enough music memorized. I can play facilely from written music. I am considering using an...

Leave strap on or attach each time

OK, this is kind of Splitting hairs probably. I have a relatively nice ukulele, that I need to use a strap to play. I keep it in its case when not using it. Is it better for me to leave the strap on even though it means it will be in contact with the uke at all times, or take it off after each...

    Thumb picks and tremolo

I am able to use most thumb picks for upstrokes as well... For me the biggest difference has been learning to use a nail file to shape the pick.

New (to me) clawhammer tabs from Aaron Keim

Jerry, yeah but just think about how good your dusting is thanks to them! (Byou know, the clawhammer book from Aaron is the only "instructional" book I have ever learned from successfully. I think he does a very good job in that book of starting with something painfully simple and then advancing...

    Drill for partial mute strumming?

Hi, does anyone have a good way to practice strumming all four strings of a ukulele, but only sounding one or two? So you can maintain a steady strum but sound a melody at times?
