Season 639 - You Tell ME What the Theme Is

My third song is a repost of one I recorded a couple of months ago, under the special “Rob rule” for the season. “A lead role in a cage” fits the prison theme.

Season 639 - You Tell ME What the Theme Is

Time for an Irish folk song for my second "prison" entry this week. It's a long song that tells a story. Recorded versions (the most well-known to me being by The Dubliners, and Thin Lizzy) drop verses, which I think weakens the story. Anywhere, here it is:

New Uke Day (NUD) Mid 50s Kamaka Gold Label Soprano

I managed to get hold of one of the same model late last year. Mine also has a high action, but the intonation is good enough. And as you say, the tone is absolutely incredible - I just love it. And it looks great too, same as yours. Sounds like we’ve both had really good finds.

Season 636 - One for sorrow...

Here, finally, is my first song this season. Mentions in the lyrics of "boy" and "girl". "Sorrow" is also hinted at with the line "Tale of woe", and for me there's an implication that the relationship is secret. "Gold" is possibly also implied in the colour of a harvest moon, with ordinary...

How many ukes have you got? (expanded poll)

2 sopranos 2 long neck sopranos 4 concerts 1 long neck concert 2 tenors 2 baritones 1 guitalele In my defence, I plan to move on 4 of them. And of the concerts, one is a resonator, and one is an Enya Nova for playing with effects, so they’re different.
