Week 641 - Going to Katmandalamazoo, Titicacamonga, and Wooloo Wooloo!

I always thought Canadians pronounce Toronto with just two syllables: "Tronna" 🍁 😁

Week 641 - Going to Katmandalamazoo, Titicacamonga, and Wooloo Wooloo!

There's a quaint little village in Austria, some 30km N of Salzburg that's inspired a few tunes 😇

SOTU 640: BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

I went for the Brokeback Mountain look to-day. The hat's a gen-u-wine Stetson, btw (bought in Bruges!! :-D). Talking of BBM, do you remember the media furore a few years back when it was reported that studies showed that approx 10% of Montana rams were gay? Subeditors (who write the headlines)...

SOTU 640: BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

A couple of you have been kind enough to my entry for this Season, mentioning that they'd not previously come across the introductory verse. In musicals, of course, the verse is usually just there to warn the audience that a set of choruses is on its way(!), so it (the verse) rarely appears in...

SOTU 640: BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN

DYK? "Cowboy" originally was a derogatory term for those brave young men who rode the range alone for weeks or months at a time with their only companions those enticing creatures with the beautiful big brown eyes. 🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮🐮 🤠 Don't believe me? One word: "cowpokes"

    Tabs/Chords Oh Well! part 1

This is my entry for this week's Season. I transcribed it into Musescore for linear-tuned tenor ukulele. The original is in E-minor, but as most tenors in linear tuning are (wrongly - IMO) tuned to low-G, this version is in G-minor. The bottom line of the tab is written for low-G too. I didn't...

Season 639 - You Tell ME What the Theme Is

I transcribed this into Musescore, if anyone else wants to give it a go. You'll need a ukulele with linear tuning. My ukulele's tuned to Bb, so my version's in F-minor (the original's in E-minor), but as most tenor ukuleles in linear tuning are tuned GCEA, I've transposed up it to G-minor here...

Season 639 - You Tell ME What the Theme Is

Thanks for hosting, Brian. I went for the 1969 option : -) I saw Dea Matrona do this way with just guitar & bass. I decided to do without the bass.

    Season 638: Road signs

Not an entry for this Season but from Season 65, 2013 &, funnily enough, from pretty much exactly this time of year 😁

Season 637 - Here and Now

I've read through this Season's rubric a few times, and I think this qualifies, but as always, stand open to correction. Originally written & recorded by Fats Domino (as 'Before I Get Too Old', 1960), but better known, I think, under this title, & pretty much the last song Joe Strummer ever...

Season 636 - One for sorrow...

Working backwards from seven, here's an entry for columns six & five. :-) (I realised after reading the rubric for Season 637, that it fits there too, so am cross-posting there)

SOTU 633: Time is on my side (yes it is)

Yes. Yesterday, we celebrated the memory of this great West German statesman . Come October, we'll be tipping our hats to this great American sporting giant .

    Season 631: I Mist You

That's very kind of you to say, thank you. Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been in Luxembourg for the past few days, where public transport is free, a train ride to Trier, Germany costs just €6 return... and where, Trier being int. al., the birthplace of Karl Marx, to honour the great...

    Season 631: I Mist You

Hi Jon, & thanks for hosting! First song I thought of when I saw your theme. I've spent all week trying to learn the guitar parts, but I only got as far as the introduction! :-)

    Season 630

    This was the first song I thought of when I saw this season's challenge. It's taken me till now to figure out an arrangement. I'll let you be the judge... Home - Lene Lovich (1979) [original key is G#m/E] | C#m C#m | E E | F#m F#m | A | | / / / / | / / / / | / / / / | / / / / |...

    Season 630

Our headmaster was a mathematician - so we studied New Maths. It was great fun. Our textbooks were the Schoools Mathematics Project (SMP) Vols 1-V. I was never a great maths scholar, but I do remember the cartoons and quotations that prefaced each chapter. My favourite came in the chapter on...

Season of the 'Ukulele (SOTU) 629 - Season of the Cuckoo'lele

I did put the audio through Audacity (in those instances). In Audacity, it sounded fine. Uploaded, horrible.

Season of the 'Ukulele (SOTU) 629 - Season of the Cuckoo'lele

Thanks! I pulled a couple of entries from kolibri's 3/4 time season 'cos they sounded so rubbish once uploaded.

Season of the 'Ukulele (SOTU) 629 - Season of the Cuckoo'lele

When I record material for upload, playback sounds fine on my laptop, but when I play it back on YT, it sounds really thin. Anyone else have this issue?
