New Uke Day (NUD) Ohana CK-35 is the New Axe in The House.

The new addition to my collection. Ohana CK 35. Solid Mahogany and I like the solid weight feel. Absolutely fell in love with the warm earthy tones and highs when desires. Tried it up against several that were hundreds more and sound/play ability was too close to care. Still stretching the...

How did you end up here?

That is awesome Thank you. There are so many "toy" type Ukes out there and some of the vintage are really fascinating. Just another great addition to my Ukulele world to look for on those rainy days. Tiki Jeff

What did you do today? Anything hobby-related.

Found a guy named "ARCHMAN" on YTube. He has a crazy fun almost Rag Time sounding Hello Dolly piece. Trying to figure the Chords Progressions. Anyone have a hook on a fun version of this song?? I can pull apart the Chords if I slow it down but my 60 year old eyes start drying up. LOL

Nice article on The Magic Fluke Company!

I am currently trying to hear a comparison between the Concert Flea and Concert Fluke. They seem pretty similar. Maybe just a bit more depth to the overall sound on the Fluke?

Know them well... They are nice strings for a warmer and colorful sound. Have 2 or 3 packs of Dominants by Thomastick sitting in my string bin. I play Zyex and Helicores on stage as they are very fast on response.

Yea the strings on those are no joke tension wise and the fact they are steel in some cases. I have even been told to wear safety glasses when playing Lighter gauge esp Gut.

Yea, oh I can not imagine how tough that would be. :) Sacrifices, you know... LOL

Yes the Feet are going to be a different angle according to the top of the Violin. The shaping and string grooves are also a challenge. The bridge, unless a very high quality hard wood will wear and the strings will often dig into the wood over time. Esp with steel strings and particularly...

Like yourself, I know his music and of him, but that is all. He reminds me of Kapono. I knew "Earl The Pearl" from Molokai as He would bring a fish by the yard for dinner once in a while.

t Oh wow...lol I remember only one Christmas banner across the street in Downtown KK and they were not sure which way to turn it because from the front it said "NOEL" of course on the back it read "LEON" Hahha As you know it is hard for anyone to "move" there and there is soooo little...

You hit it my friend. 30 plus years here with the 6 string Axe and Violin. My MIA Gits are all slightly curved. I do have a good sized hand and the flat Uke neck actually had a string get "plunky" on me with a Barre Chord while playing with friends. I know it comes greatly down to set up but...

Bulls eye and on target about the "too high" with frets. Often can come down to proper set up as well. Good point. I am sending my "Flat" one out to my Luthier for a little off the Bridge today. I gauge checked my frets and was somewhat impressed on the Ohana workmanship.

Very enlightening and at almost 61 something I have thought about. Also a big reason I am coming over to this awesome world of 1 pound AXES as opposed to my 8-10 pound ones. I truly hope there will never be a day when I can not pick up my Jazzmaster or '58 Les Paul but hey, reality is reality...

Fantastic that you are on target with this. Amazing how playing ergonomics and what works for one..."... is as unique as music genres.

Yes, wow early 80's = very undeveloped. I have not been in many years either. Kaunakakai has many more homes as my drive to the Kaunakakai Hotel was almost all shore line back then. Downtown Kk, had a bakery Kanemitsu's, killer banana pancakes and breakfast btw... the hardware store, a video...

Absolutely, hold onto those dreams. Good input btw and thanks. After posting, during a large cup of coffee mind you, I soon realized from all the great advice it boils down to some idiot, ME, playing a Radius Ukulele. Hehehe.
