    When does $16 = $200?

When you go to a Jim Beloff workshop and he brings factory "second" Flukes and Fleas he's selling at a great price and a bunch of great books. I love my Fluke and this book on the history of the uke is terrific. The workshop was great fun and I met lots of other ukulele fans from my area.

    The Aldrine Photo Conspiracy

Who has been picking those Uke Minutes pictures of Aldrine to post on the UU homepage. I know he is this strapping handsome troubadour but very time I open the site I think, " That poor guy needs to be in rehab". I don't know about you but I think it's too much of a coincidence that this...

What happened to yetsrday's live lesson?

Aldrine did his usual great job with his lesson yesterday but I can't find it. We all saw him saving it. Do they do some editing before they post it. Last week's lesson on Brezzin' was lost. I hope that's not the case again. :(

    Mic Recommendation for Garage Band

I've done a search but no luck on this. I'd like to get a mic to record my uke on Garage Band. I currently plug my electric guitar directly to my Mac with great results. I've been debating getting a Fluke with a pickup but the consensus here is that a mic would be best. I also like the...

    Pickup or Mic

I'd like to record my uke but I don't know if I should get a a pickup or a mic. It seems that the mic would be more versatile but when I tried the mic on my computer to do a Garage Band track it sounded terrible. Any advice would be welcome.

Anyone been to a Jim Beloff presentation?

Jim Beloff is doing a workshop at the local community music school. He's talking about his new book "The Ukulele; A Visual History" and doing a Quick Start Ukulele workshop. I am mostly interested in his book. Have any of you been to one of his talks?

So now I get the "underground" part

I volunteer at at local museum every year to help out with their antique and classic boat show. That was yesterday. I usually hang out at the front gate and ask people if they'd like to make a voluntary donation to the museum since the show is free to the public. The museum's director used to...

I can't stop starring at this thing!

My new Kamaka arrived today. It is just an absolutely beautiful instrument. I love the tone and the feel of the neck. The action is just perfect no buzzing at all. The first thing I noticed was how light it was compared to my laminate. Light... but sturdily constructed. The symmetry of the grain...

I just did it... HF-3 on the way!

I can't believe that I just did this. A new Kamaka HF-3 Tenor will be in my hands tomorrow. Kanaka turned me on to Mandolin Brothers and they were just fantastic to deal with and had a great selection. I was very concerned about buying a high-end instrument like this over the internet but...

    Kamaka Responsiveness?

I really have a major case of UAS for a Kamaka tenor. I wrote to them a few days ago to inquire 1. if the factory direct 10% discount was still in effect, 2. cost of cases (because they are no longer listed on the website), and 3. cost of shipping to CT. I haven't heard anything. Is this...

    Somebody help me!

All I wanted to do was to get something to strum while hanging out on my sailboat. I thought about a 3/4 size guitar but it really was still too big for a small boat. Then there was this little ukulele. A Mitchell MU100..... perfect! I realized that it wasn't a professional grade instrument but...
