What’s your opinion on this type of handwritten tab?

I'm teaching an easy chord melody class in a few months, and I use handwritten tab sheets. No one has ever complained. I probably should learn to use a program like MuseScore, but I'm kind of computer averse. Does MuseScore work well on a Mac?

    Lots of Sales!

That's my situation right now. Just sold one (took 3 tries though) and have a little extra money in my "ukulele" kitty.

    The Tenor is King

True.....the choices in concerts are not nearly as numerous as tenors. I'd love to see more 16 inch scale concert choices.

    The Tenor is King

Here's my dilemma with the tenor. Early on in my ukulele journey I won a nice tenor at a uke festival. I had been playing mostly concert at that point, and the tenor felt like too much of a stretch for my fingers. I ended up selling the tenor to a friend. I've not been blessed with long, slim...

Anyone played a new Oli uke?

All these great videos of great sounding 'Oli ukuleles, and now they're even easier to find on the TUS website. Yikes. My resistance is wavering.

    Finding riffs while noodling

I prefer to use the term goofing around when I'm actually goofing around on my ukes at home. Noodling has a negative connotation for me. At my local ukulele jams & practices, our leader fusses at us when we are noodling around while she's trying to teach or tell us something. "Quit yer noodling...

Here are a few more pictures of the ukulele. You can see the "orange peel" semi-gloss finish better. Also a picture of the action at the 12th fret.

Anyone played a new Oli uke?

Is X brace the same as lattice brace? The ukulele video above is comparing fan bracing and X bracing. I'm familiar with X bracing with my aNueNue Moon Bird.

    Finding riffs while noodling

I like to write my own chord melodies, so I'm always experimenting with phrases that sound cool. However, if I don't write them down they are gone pretty quick. I try to keep a blank tab sheet on my desk to jot things down. I like your idea of recording a phrase or riff on a looper.

    using iPad for "song sheets"

My group uses PiaScore. I was resistant to going electronic until last year. Now I can't imagine life without it. I splurged on the largest iPad Pro 12.9 to make it as easy as possible on older eyes. I can download PDF music sheets & use the camera feature to download my hand written music...

    New Oli' line on HMS

Thanks for the link to the earlier post. Guess I missed it. I've been pretty busy this last week with uke group rehearsals, performances, and playing for a memorial service. There's a lot of good info on the earlier post. Now I'm even more jazzed to spend money and try one.....Yikes. The biggest...

    New Oli' line on HMS

Thanks eyedoc and simerix for the info. That's a positive that the neck is more slender than Pono. On one of the Oli' videos, Corey mentioned that people who play concert size shouldn't have a lot of trouble with the tenor size. It seems by reading through the write-ups on the Oli' ukuleles...

    New Oli' line on HMS

I recall playing someone's Pono for a few minutes, several years ago. I have a vague recollection of the neck feeling "chunky." The Pono and Oli' necks are described as a medium C shape, in contrast with a D shape for the aNueNue ukuleles. Pono nut size is 1.35 and the Oli' is 1.5 I'm most...

    New Oli' line on HMS

I've been looking at the new Oli' line of ukuleles that's showed up on the HMS website in the last few weeks. They look very nice, with lattice bracing, side sound port, arm bevel, and radiused fret board. Wide range of wood combos and wide price range. Mostly tenors and baritones, but a few...
