Thread: Learning scales?

  1. #1

    Default Learning scales?

Probably going to sound really stupid here, but how do you learn to play scales?
I have looked at loads of videos on Youtube, they all play it in 1st position?? OK got that. But if I understand it, there are four positions?
Have a picture of fretboard with all notes marked, but should I be playing some notes in a lower octave than the previous note?(Hope that makes sense)
This is the C major scale I am referring to

I was going to post this video too, it's a good one. If I remember well, the page it's embedded in at the Hawaii Music Supply website also has a helpful drawing of the fretboard and of the different positions across it. The "Fretboard Road Map" book is also very good.
