Does it make much of a difference in sound whether you bookmatch so the grain is parallel, or if you match it in a V?
When I've bought ukes, I've gone for parallel straight grain tops, because someone at some point told me it's better for sound. But I've been rethinking that advice, and wondering if it is actually wrong.
I find V grained joins to be very attractive. And while considering bracing, it occurred to me, that if fan bracing is a good idea, wouldn't V grain be better than parallel since you'd align the grain with the stress?
Or does it just not really matter?
