I now have the four K's and a Martin and all are Koa. I really want an excellent Mahogany before venturing into "other" woods. Although I can pick up a Martin 2T for a reasonable price and will probably do so, what others would you recommend?

Would you recommend this over a custom Ko'olau?
No. But now I realize your budget exceeds mine. Didn't notice that at first.

Mahogany has a nice mellow sound. :) When you get around to trying other woods, I'd suggest cedar for its warmth.

Hi Pete, since you have full steamed ahead with a fine collection of uku's, I think a 'Kiwaya' KT is a must.

I think they are fabulous, highly recommended.

Don't know what your need timeframe is but a Mya -Moe might be in order.

Otherwise, I second the spruce/redwood option.

On second thought, mahogany is good too!

Why go with another wood ukulele?

The next uke on my UAS list is the carbon fibre Blackbird BTU.

My father in law has one that is spruce top and macassar ebony sides and back.

Beautiful tone and very loud. Of course that could be because it's one of Papa KoAloha's special Sceptres.

Now that you've gone through all the K-Brands in Koa, you should definitively give a try to Cedar, Redwood, and different kinds of Spruce tops... :)

Cedar topped mahogany

How's solid mango compared to koa? that's what I'm thinking of getting next, if only for the way it looks.

That would also be my choice.

I had a rosewood/spruce uke, but didn't keep it, kinda wish I still had it.
