I now have the four K's and a Martin and all are Koa. I really want an excellent Mahogany before venturing into "other" woods. Although I can pick up a Martin 2T for a reasonable price and will probably do so, what others would you recommend?

I've encoutnered some really excellent sounding Collings UT1 and UT2 mahogany tenors - maybe one of those?

No. But now I realize your budget exceeds mine. Didn't notice that at first.
Mahogany has a nice mellow sound.
When you get around to trying other woods, I'd suggest cedar for its warmth.

Hi Pete, since you have full steamed ahead with a fine collection of uku's, I think a 'Kiwaya' KT is a must.

My father in law has one that is spruce top and macassar ebony sides and back.
Beautiful tone and very loud. Of course that could be because it's one of Papa KoAloha's special Sceptres.

I've seen Compass Rose mahogany ukes in concert size. John Kinnard has done some mahogany ukuleles with a sunburst finish.
