Hi Everyone, this is one of only a handful of Anton Abreo's known in the world today, and certainly one of the handful that actually plays!

The research from Ryan on this instrument was extensive, tracing it's roots of the builder back to Portugal. Here is one of the first Portuguese builders who arrived in Hawaii (we all have heard Portugal is where it all started) and clearly was one of the folks who introduced ukulele to Maui, Hawaii!

Abreo came to Hawaii from Portugal and is one of the first known recorded Portuguese builders to build in Hawaii. His wife is buried in Hawaii as the death records reported however, Anton's death or burial location is unknown, and all discussions with descendants turned up no additional information about his final resting place.

An amazing story for an amazing ukulele and one of the oldest playable ukes in the world. Only a few have been reported with collectors world wide. This instrument is estimated to be 1890's to 1905, and it's believed this instrument may have been made between 1900 and 1905.
