Saw a synth 'ukulele last Friday and I'm itching to get my hands on one (again). I know one of our members has modded a couple Godins with 13-pin synth access pickups, but I haven't heard from him and would love some additional opinions.
For those in the know:
What RMC (or other) pickup did you use?
What do you need to install it (preamps, converters, etc...)? I know you need the synth pedal to get the sounds, but it seems like there is a lot of gear that has to go inside the uke.
Where did you get such a thing (seems like RMC is hard to get hold of)?
Would it fit in the body chamber of a Pono solidbody baritone?
Is it feasible for a Joe Blow like me to install it with minimal soldering experience and some "normal people" tools? Might be able to get my luthier buddy to do the drilling/uke alterations.
Any other thoughts/tips?
Mahalo! I know I probably should have just bought the modded Godin when it was in the marketplace, but hindsight's 20/20....
