Use violin end pin as strap button?

Hi all,
when I screw a guitar strap button on the bottom of a soprano uke, it looks bad, too big, it sticks out too much. Has anyone experience with using a violin end pin on a uke? It would need a substantial hole, nut it would look the part, I suppose. Any advice?

End pin on my violin is 12.5 mm diameter, projects out around 11 mm's. Obviously they vary in size a bit. I don't think it will look out of place on a Uke.
Hole is around 7 mm iirc but you can always reduce the shaft diameter. Usually they are a tapered hole, done with a reamer.

The strap buttons I use on my soprano and concert ukuleles are 10mm in diameter and protrude about the same amount - see http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quality-s...hash=item5aedb4de8e:m:m-NDb-u_D-mQy7UvDev1Ylg

Do note, if you are using a commercial strap, these small buttons can be a loose fit. I make my own straps and adjust appropriately.
