2018 Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival

I'm going to wear either a UU or a Ukulele Kids Club t-shirt with my open shirt, and really big straw hat. I'll be playing bass uke with The CC Strummers from 3-4:45.

I've been struggling with a bad knee lately. My previously good knee has decided to revolt in protest. I got some fluid drawn off of it today & a steroid injection which I'm praying will make it feel better. Walking at work has been torture the past few days. I'm determined not to miss this festival, come hell or high water. I may be fighting cyber3d for that wheelchair.....maybe we can take turns riding & pushing:D

I just found out that I can bring my mobility scooter on my Delta Airlines flight. Their customer service rep. was super helpful in getting me set up to take it along. Now I just have to figure out Uber to & from LAX with the scooter. I'm hopeful that the festival venue is ADA accessible. Being a civic center I'm sure it will be.

If I remember right, the venue is accessible, everything is on one level and no steps. I'm going to bring my super compact folding stand up mobility scooter.

Hey RafterGirl UberWav apparently allows you to book Uber drivers with wheelchair access. Do a web search for UberWav. I used my wheelchair last year and had good access to all the events. You just have to get into some of the events a bit early as it can get crowded.

Thanks for the info. Looks like Uber has a couple options. Uber Wav if you need a wheelchair ramp & Uber Assist if you have a portable wheelchair or scooter. I think Uber Assist will cover my needs. My little scooter disassembles in less than 5 minutes & will fit in most trunks or SUVs. I'm glad the venue is wheelchair friendly. I was so bummed when I hurt my knee a few weeks ago & had to miss a trip that I had planned. It seemed to be improving, but took a turn for the worse this week. The thought of missing the festival was really making me sad.

I wrecked my knee a few days ago and I'm hobbling around badly. My plan was to spend the entire day along with performing with The CC Strummers at 3 pm, but I might only be able to do the performance. I'm seeing the orthopedist Tuesday, maybe get a cortisone shot or something. I especially don't want to miss Rutts.

Sorry about your knee. Sounds like you & I don't have good timing for messing up our knees, but we are going to make the best of it. A day of ukulele will make us feel better.....emotionally, if not physically. Sorry to say, my cortisone injection last week didn't help much. Fingers crossed that I can make it from Salt Lake City to LA & back without too much trouble.

I think I'm going to have to print a lot more lead sheets for our CC Strummers play-long.

Good video, that was a great segment Mitch. Made me want to go and I’m already going. Oh course I also wanted to strum every uke on that display table.

What a day yesterday! The 4th annual Los Angeles International Ukulele Festival is now officially on the books.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to all the friends, helpers, volunteers, vendors, instructors, performers, former students, attendees, participants for all the positive energy and enthusiasm that sustained the day and made all the visitors feel welcomed.

Believe me, I have already made copious notes on how to improve things for next year. Some ideas have taken 4 years to materialize, others are just things I wanted to try this year but may not have worked out quite as I'd hoped so they may need to be tweaked or 86'd altogether.

Thanks again and see you next year!

Kudos to you Mitch and all the wonderful performers you gathered together! What a wonderful day! Taimane was over the top GREAT!!!! So much talent and she really seems to be enjoying herself. Her drummer was spectacular!!!
Looking forward to next year ! The LA Uke fest just gets better and better!
Thanks!!
