I recently purchased a 12” Ipad. I am computer challenged, however, i would like recommendations on:

Program to put songs such as Aldrine’s lessons, which would include the words, chords, and the tabs.

Program to then store my information on my Ipad.

    Thank you

I use an iPad Pro 12.9" with forScore to store all the PDF music sheets I create on my Mac. You can also create sheets in it. It has a learning curve.

8 tenor cutaway ukes, 3 acoustic bass ukes, 8 solid body bass ukes, 8 mini electric bass guitars

I also have a iPad Pro 12.9”. I use iBooks to store my PDF Downloads of tab. I use split screen to play YouTube while viewing the tab at the same time.

What format are the resources in?

Someone in our group has the same iPad and ForScore and a couple of similar programs. She uses the iPad to "scan" music, and it's ready to go. She found a nice grippy stand for it. It can go on a stand or a table. I can't justify spending the money for a large iPad just for uke music. I have a smaller iPad 2 that suits my needs.

Come to think of it, we have a member who uses a smaller tablet for her music. Sitting on the table in front of her, the size is fine.

Not sure what you're asking, PDF has been mentioned a couple of times. forScore complies with that format where the chord is in brackets in the line of lyrics but then can be viewed above the lyric.

Chiily’s original post didn’t mention what format the resources were in...other people suggested PDF. Things can be in all kinds of formats, including iBook, Amazon Kindle, MusicXML (still not great for ukulele/guitar as a format), Doc/DocX documents, websites, and PDF. There are probably others. I don’t assume that PDF is what someone wants to display anymore...I have learned the hard way.

I think forScore is the best solution for PDF...I would also suggest unrealBook as a alternative with similar features (unrealBook was created and is maintained by a sole developer who is Hawaiian and plays with Chris Kamaka). For the “next generation” see Newzik (MusicXML and PDF). If you are running Kindle, there is something to be said for using Calibre (a format changer) on a computer and exporting Kindle to PDF for use with a Music Reader.

Music Readers DO make a difference beyond just using iBooks or Kindle. I present sessions on “How to use forScore” and cannot cover the features in an hour.

For a set-up, I like using the Manos Mount and GoStand from AirTurn, and I personally prefer the Pageflip Dragonfly Page turner, although I would also recommend the AirTurn and IRig Pedals as well.
    Playing ukulele since January 2016.
