::Leader Board:: Ahnko Honu Takes The Lead Chapter 23!

Went looking for golf clubs for James and I found an okay set for $110.00. I'm guessing someone just left them there when they bought new clubs because I think that's about the profit they usually make on a set of used clubs.

They're about 8 years old and in good condition. James doesn't like golf much but Mika wants to start playing again so I'm thinking James will have more of an interest in going when we all go together. He's about 5'5" now, so I had to get him an adult set. Now I'll just keep an eye out for woods for him.

I have a buddy in the industry that is keeping an eye out for a new/used set for Mika. We're going to need to scale back our spending in other areas if we're all going to golf. Mika is already planning on golfing in Hawaii next year.

My parents made me play tennis with them one summer when I was about 12, I've hated it every since.

Earlier this week Nanilei asked me if she thought there would be Hawaiian music at Canoe Hut tonight, I said yes, so she baked cupcakes to take with us.
Yesterday we saw the Facebook post that they are playing NEXT Friday.
Oh well, bonus cupcakes for the lucky patrons of Canoe Hut tonight!

My parents made me play tennis with them one summer when I was about 12, I've hated it every since.

We used to be "into" tennis as a family. We took lessons, I went to "tennis camp" one summer. I liked it, and was pretty good at it, but not as much as my brother did, and I was never as good as he is. He was also eight years older than me and over six feet tall. I think I stopped playing about the time I got to high school.

My brother still plays nearly every day.

I was kind of small and not that athletic in high school. I was small because I was about 2-3 years younger than most kids in my class, and I was not athletic because we did not do much sports.
I was active though, I swam, surfed, skated etc., and I did have a pretty good tennis game.

I remember PE in high school, which I hated because I did not really know how to play basketball, football, baseball, etc. Well when it got to tennis, everyone thought I was going to be easy to beat and I kicked ass and surprised a few people!

Gary - there is a store at Merchant & Richards St downtown, across the street from the Post Office by 'Iolani Palace and the King Kamehameha statue, that is packed to the rafters with old golf clubs. Many days they are literally spilling outside. I bet you could find something there for James.

I see people surf fishing on the West Side all the time. I have yet to see someone catch something.

My friends on the North Shore though have much better luck, and consistently catch fish, but they are doing two things differently (aside from the location).
They "fish" all night (fire and beer).
They also don't cast - they are surfers so they get on their boards and paddle the lines waaaaaaaay out.

I used to drag a lure behind my windsurf board. Would occasionally catch bass and/or trout depending on the lake.

My little Kala concert doesn't sound that great to me, but hey, it still has its original strings and has been living in my car for what, four years now? Amazing if you ask me.
Oh, and Kimo played it at a kanikapila last year and it sounded just fine. :)

Nice. This one is going to live in my car too. The Pilot has a little hatch/trunk in the back that should fit the Kala. I was most excited that it was laminate :)

We saw Hobbs & Shaw last night.
Stupid, predictable, ridiculous.
Of course we both enjoyed it, great action.

I chose the wrong movie though!

Yesterday was Jerry Garcia's birthday and they show a Grateful Dead concert on that day every year.

The first snuck up on me.
Hey now! Gotta go pay rent!

My AX bill was UGLY!

Spending is much more fun than paying!!!

I think it would be cheaper for me to look for a set here rather than flying to Oahu again :)

Besides, I have a lot of contacts and I'm sure I will get a great deal. My own clubs only cost me $100.00 and at the time they were retailing for $1200.00. My buddy was a rep for the company and I just had to pay shipping, tax and some other fees. I was a "promotion" for the company :)

Here's the uke I won in the raffle

How's it sound? Oh wait. . .

Hey Don, how's your energy after treatments?

My friend Len is pretty wiped out after his treatments but I think they're hitting him with a pretty strong dose.

I like your attitude. Kick its butt Don. Kick its butt!!!

Like Len, pretty wiped out. They give me three or four different anti-nausea drugs, so luckily that hasn't been an issue. Just finished cycle number one this morning, and have been napping ever since.

I need at least six complete cycles, which each start three weeks apart. They're stretching the start time for cycle two to four weeks, to allow me to take a trip I've had planned for a year. Then, back at it....

Went into the nearby mountains this afternoon. Drove up to Cave Creek and Carefree. Lovely desert/mountain terrain. I was hoping to get some good cloud photography done, but the best clouds kept moving north and east.
