Shield it from the wind and mulch it good. Maybe plant it near the house so the warmth from the sun radiates off a wall.

The roof is about 15 foot tall, but I also have a dwarf variety called a "TR Hovey", look up some pics, they are cool.
They get pretty tall. I don't want it to mess with the foundation of the house.
There was a HUGE mango tree just north of Kapaa when we were there in July. Probably 80 feet tall. Mangoes all over the road.
