I had one of these for a while. I was really impressed with the playability and volume. It was well in tune with nice action. It was not quite a wood uke sound, but certainly sounded good. Nice review

Nice non review, Baz. Fun.
Many times better sounding than a crummy old Waterman.

I enjoyed this one (well, I enjoy them all if I am honest). Nice to not have to worry about a rating, I would think!

Indeed - and would have been impossible. Just think it deserved a 'feature'

I can't wait for the eBay links to the Maccaferris for sale. Maybe there will be a surge in price?

To be honest - they just dont appear that often I find (or at least they don't in the UK).

It is from time when plastic still was mostly celluloid. Thank you for bringing us this and it also sounded very good.
Especially as my experience is this that the plastics from that time always broke easily.

So we got to hear something from history played by you :)

It's not actually celluloid, but another thermoplastic - polystyrene

Interesting side remark is that the great Django Reinhardt always played with Selmer-Maccaferri guitars.
Also that Django's left hand was damaged in a fire with celluloids as a young guy, and thus producing the 2 fingered miracle soloist we got to know him ;

So it is not celluloid, but be careful Barry anyways heh.
