Hi everyone,

I'm Kasia, age 27 and I'm from Poland. I've had my ukulele for about 3-4 months. I was playing a little bit at guitars before - acoustic/electric - but apart of easy chords like a, C, e, G, etc, it was too difficult for me (I mean, barre chords!).
And... when I thought about ukulele and read more about it, I knew it's perfect for me! ;) easy to take it everywhere, easy to play, nice light sound and barre chords are much easier for my weak fingers :music: I also take singing lessons, so ukulele is an excellent instrument to accompany.

This forum looks good, I think I will stay here longer :mraz:

Welcome to UU, Kasia.

Welcome to UU Kasia, I think that it’s a great place and certainly one where you can find friendly voices and good advice.

I don’t know what the Ukulele ‘scene’ is in Poland but often enjoy listening to Videos from this man: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bhrih5EFOuQ . I suggest that you investigate his other videos, etc. The one I listed is in English but mostly they’re in Polish, I don’t understand any Polish but still benefit from hearing him play different Ukes, but you might well benefit from listen to what he says too.

Good luck with the Uke, it can take a while to get the hang of things - and you never stop learning - but the effort is well rewarded by the joy you get back from playing, etc.

Welcome to the forum!

I didn't know this guy before, thanks for that! For sure I will watch more his videos.
Don't know uke scene in Poland yet, so far I played for myself to learn chords. But recently I joined some uke community on facebook, they sometimes meet and play, so it's a good way to get to know another players :)

And thank you all for the warm greeting!

Welcome! :shaka:

I’m glad that the video (& links) I suggested looks like it might be helpful. The web site / shop associated with those videos is, I believe: https://przyjazne-ukulele.pl/pl/ . As you have nothing to loose and everything to gain by doing so I suggest that you send his shop an email asking about Ukulele groups in your part of Poland.

I wonder whether this is the group that you found on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/polish.ukulele/ . It’s a very good idea to meet up with players in a Club, you learn a lot, it’s encouraging and the social contact is good for us all.

Good luck and enjoy your playing.

Yes, exactly this one. What's more, "Polish ukulele" is a wordplay: "polish" is very similar in pronunciation to the word "poliż", which means to lick :) And, in a polish slang, to lick sth means more or less to start doing something (in this context playing ukulele).
So, polish ukulele = let's start playing uke! :)

Cześć Kasia!

Witamy do Ukulele Underground. I’d love to hear about any groups you find in Poland. My husband and I are thinking about moving back to Poland in a year or two. Best of luck to you!
