Why does HMS not sell Ohana?

Not sure about Ohana, but I know that HMS has discontinued to carry some brands because of quality control issues.

Thank you!

I see Ohana has lots of good reviews.

I will answer the question with a question.
They don't sell Mahalo or Ashton or Brunswick or Tanglewood or Fender or Gretsch either? Why is it that you are only concerned with Ohana?

My guess would be he-she wants to buy one. If you do and it is because HMS talks about doing a great set up and they do, Uke Republic and Mims do as well. They are both Ohana dealers and sell ukes only, both are excellent ukulele specialists

And to add, I think I read that Mim is one of the largest Ohana dealers in the States.

Lots of brands have restrictions on their vendors like, if you all brand X you can't sell our brand. Possibly either Ohana or another brand they sell (Kala, for example) has that restriction.

The bottom line is that you shouldn't let the fact that HMS doesn't sell Ohana ukes influence your opinion. They are well made and well respected. Two of my three ukes are Ohanas and I love both of them.

And the other thing to remember is that The Ukulele Site/HMS made a very deliberate move to carry higher end ukuleles on their site about a year an a half ago (you can still buy entry level models in their actual store). The least expensive ukulele on The Ukulele Site right now is the Kala Baritone $139.

I have two Ohana products right now...the Sopranissimo Pineapple and the Shakerlele. I think Ohana makes a great instrument, and I love that they are finding ways to make modern replicas of old instruments at an affordable price. Some of these would fall into The Ukulele Site’s lower price tiers...but many of the Ohana instruments would not. Don’t get me wrong...I like The Ukulele Site very much, and ordered some accessories this morning from their online store. Knowing how much The Ukulele Site puts into their service and support—I don’t blame them for wanting their web presence to focus on higher end products. There are plenty of other good brands that they do not carry...and you cannot carry them all. You just can’t.

So if you like Ohana, (as previously mentioned in the thread) you can certainly utilize Mim’s Ukes and The Uke Republic, both who I have bought ukuleles from, and have been happy with their customer service, too. And Mim frequently says that she is Ohana’s largest dealer. I wouldn’t doubt it!

There are some great shops which sell Ohana, it seems strange that anyone would have a problem with a shop not selling a particular brand? It happens all the time, you just go the shop that sells the brand you want.

Thank you for your replying! But I hope you don't get me wrong. I'm not having any problem with a shop not selling some brand. I'm just totally new to the world of uke. I'd like to understand both the brands and dealers as I probably will get more than one ukes.
