Seeking: Koa Top Ovation Tenor Ukulele

Might be a long shot, but I am in the market for one of the koa topped (I suppose mahogany is fine too) OVATION tenor ukuleles, as seen here: https://vimeo.com/60065002

I've always thought those were pretty cool. But you should be aware of the battery issue before you commit.

Wow, that battery change sounds tough! I like the line where he comments that the Ovation/Applause uke line "vanished from Ovation's promotional horizon like a flatulent relative at a wedding party." ha ha

If it were me, I'd add an external access battery box. With the curved back, it may take some figuring out to get a decent result, but it appears to be worth it. That said, good luck tracking one down. They are definitely a nice uke.

I was hot for an Ovation ukulele since I started playing the uke 5 years ago because my first new guitar in 1975 was an ovation Applause. I had the same idea to replace the internal battery box with one on the surface (I have a few sitting around), but all that changed when I lost out on an eBay auction of a sunburst Ovation making the mistake of not doing the buy it now for $400 because a few days later I bought a sunburst Godin Multiuke here in the Marketplace for $400, but it still grabs my attention when something comes up about Ovation ukes.
