I am hoping some of you have experience with both. I know the prices are very different but I am more interested in the sound, use limitations etc. I have the Rumble and it works great but there are times I want something smaller and can be run by battery.
Unfortunately, I cannot easily try a PJ D4.
Thanks.

I've been using a PJD4 with battery for a few years, I'm always amazed at how much bass it puts out, 70 watts and 4 specialized speakers. I use it with my 30 person uke group for rehearsals in a large multipurpose room and for smaller indoor gigs.

8 tenor cutaway ukes, 3 acoustic bass ukes, 8 solid body bass ukes, 7 mini electric bass guitars

No comparison at all between the Fender and PJB. I have a passive P/U in an archtop bass. The Fender wouldn't drive it at all. As Mike said,The PJ puts out 70 watts vs 15 wts. The PJB weighs much less than the Rumble. Mike suggested a computer battery to run the amp. It's about 5x7x 3/8". Really simple to use and lasts for hours. I've played 5 hours and still had three lights left.

I also use the PJ D4 as an acoustic amp when using my guitar or baritone uke. The PJ puts out a really clean sound; the Rumble sounds muddied.

Like Mike, I use for playing gigs with others. It's one of better amps I've used in 60 years of playing. Dump that faunky Rumble and get a PJ if you can.
