I live in Canada and am considering purchasing a uke from gear4music.com. Has anyone had experience buying from them? Are they reliable and honest? Can they be trusted?
Thank you in advance for your responses.

I've used the UK site a few times, service was reliable, delivery prompt. Didn't have any issues so haven't had the opportunity to test their honesty! They don't do any setup to their instruments, so you might get a uke with high action or sharp fret ends but that's the same for a lot of suppliers.

I bought a Uke from them and was pleased with the purchase. The price was competitive and the delivery good, the Uke wasn’t set up but I didn’t expect it to be. To be honest I’d buy from them again on price and delivery, my other Ukes were bought from specialist U.K. Uke suppliers but despite the claims none have provided me with better service than Gear4Music.

Thank you. That makes me feel better about the likely purchase.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Graham!

You’re welcome. Of course I can’t say what your experience in Canada will be and my experience might or might not be typical of what to expect.

I’ll never buy, at a premium, from a U.K. shop again on the basis of their ‘we set Ukes up before dispatch reputation’; to put it bluntly there’s a lot of mis-information and lies out there. These days I just expect a box with non-faulty goods inside that are otherwise direct from the factory, I set my Ukes up myself and make a good job of it (it’s a learning curve though). YMMV.

I don't know about it. However, I'd love to suggest that you go to strong-wind.com to have a look because there are a lot of quality ukuleles at the very reasonable prices. I hope it can help you. :)

Do you work for Strong Wind (hilarious name) by any chance? You go off topic and link to them quite a lot so I was just wondering.

Here is the full range of Strong Wind ukuleles :- https://www.strong-wind.com/ukuleles

Yep, all eight of them and all ‘house brand’ instruments - draw your own conclusions about how worthwhile purchasing they might be.

It seems unfair to me that the thread has drifted so far from the original post which was:

I agree Graham, and I am partially responsible for that drift. Seriously though, am I the only one who has a chuckle at strong wind? Might as well call them farty pants ukuleles and be done with it.

i bought the small vox amp and the blues plug in earphone amp from the UK website unfortunately the small vox amp was terrible soundwise, i e mailed them, they told me to keep it or throw it away, they refunded me the full purchase price, no questions asked, i also bought a cheap gearformusic travel guitar and the service and delivery were excellent

There are plenty of YouTube videos with people demonstrating ukuleles that can be bought at Gear4Music, including all the big names and their own brand. To see an alphabetic list of their 37 ukulele brands scroll down this page :- https://www.gear4music.com/Acoustic_Guitars/Ukuleles.html
The Gear4Music postal address and showroom is :- Kettlestring Lane, Clifton Moor, York, YO30 4XF, United Kingdom

Where are the premises of Strong Wind? Its prices are shown in pounds sterling. On its contact page the telephone number is an invalid code in the UK. There is a Chinese address.
