Mitch: It's my first LA Uke festival. Obviously bring a ukulele and tuner. Should I bring anything else? A chair? A music stand? A notebook? Pens? Is there something to download ahead of time? Will the workshop rooms have chairs?

    Trying to plan a bit.

    Cheers,
    Rich

Uploaded schedule V.8 to the website, click on the clipboard icon on the top left of the page to view. You will see on the far right side of the schedule "open mic" at the Ohana Ukuleles booth that will be in the Entry Plaza Marketplace area. First come, first served - everyone will get a chance to sign up for a specific time slot (5-minute increments). First time we're doing this so I have no idea how many people will participate but I have gotten a lot of questions about it.
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions! www.losangelesukulelefestival.com and please like our Facebook page, too, for more and frequent updates.

Hey everyone - great article that came out in the current Easy Reader (local South Bay beach cities weekly paper), check it out! https://easyreadernews.com/tales-of-the-magic-uke/ Great interview with Jim Beloff, this is part 1, part 2 comes out next week and features an interview with Bakithi Kumalo, so excited to have him in the festival this year! Don't miss his 2 presentations at the festival: "a conversation with Bakithi" and "celebrating the music of Paul Simon" which is for all levels.

Jim, Liz and I are heading out to Claremont Community School of Music Thursday night for a rehearsal with the string quartet who'll be performing Jim Beloff's ukulele concerto at the end of his set at the festival. If you're in the area, you are welcome to come hang out and watch the rehearsal, probably around 7pm.
