A relative sent us a flower bouquet from HI for the holidays, which is stunning! The big box it came was packed with loads of shredded newspaper for a cushion. I've been using that as kindling in my woodstove. Near the bottom, there were crushed up balls of newspaper too. I grabbed one to throw in the stove, and the word ukulele jumped out at me, so I unraveled it to see the front page of the Maui times, with a notice on the ukulele festival. Too bad, I missed it! ;)

I lived up in Kula, Maui for 12 years, and the Maui Arts and Culture Center hosted some great events including annual Slack Key Guitar Festival, ʻUkulele Festival, and a ton of reunion ʻ60, and ʻ70s rock band concerts. I even went to watch my niece dance ballet there. I sure do miss living on Maui. I got my concert Koa pineapple ʻukulele there too, the best sounding ʻukulele I own.
