Was watching a YT video of Honoka & Azitas playing Kanilea ukes, and when they tilted it just right, you could see the brace inside, with holes apparently drilled through it, see below. Did some more research, and found these videos describing their bracing system:

This seems very different than most others, with some of the bracing not even touching the top. I've never seen or played one, but just thought it was interesting. Any comments from Kanilea owners?

One of my cousins has a Kanile’a k1 super concert. I played it over Thanksgiving for the first time and it sounded amazing. A nice clear warm tone (I have KoAlohas as my comparison) with a lot of sustain. It could be placebo effect but I thought I could feel the body vibrating more than I was used to.

They announced that they are using their upgraded version of the TRU bracing on all ukuleles going forward.

Hello, I don't at all mean to hijack this thread. I tried to message you tomthebabtist but your message box is full...can you message me perhaps?

I love my K1 tenor.

I have a K1-T tenor and it is a boomer. The curved back really accentuates the low end and projects like crazy. I like it a lot.

Kanilea is definitely the lightest uke I have owned (I measure all of them), and I am sure this has to do with the holes in the bracing. So if a lightweight uke is a top priority for someone, Kanilea should definitely be on the list to look at.
