New LfdM tenors with a twist

Dave, thanks for the information. What strings do you like to use on your ukes?

Since South Coast are gone I use either the same combo Luis is using. Sometimes I substitute the Thomastick CF30 wound 4th with a Fremont Soloist squeakless wound low G if I want a little more chime and shimmer to the tone.

Thanks Dave. You have been very informative and influential in my purchases.

VIDEOS ARE UP ON HMS VIMEO CHANNEL.

If you want to hear these 4 ukuleles go to HMS vimeo channel, they were just posted a few hours ago. Sorry but I am on my tablet and don't know how to link things with this.

NOTE : They say the necks are maple.....they are not....they are Alaskan yellow cedar, very similar to Port Orford Cedar.

Embeds don't seem to work for Vimeo, but here are the links:
Cedar/myrtle: https://vimeo.com/312313546
POC/Granadillo: https://vimeo.com/312313399
Spruce/padauk: https://vimeo.com/312308807
Redwood/Sapele: https://vimeo.com/312308612

They are not on the HMS site yet. I wonder if they'll be snatched up before they have a chance to.

I'm sticking with my earlier selection of the redwood/Sapele though cedar/myrtle is really close second.

Thanks for doing that Jim, you are a technical wizard.

Here is the funny thing, when I played them the spruce/Paduk was my favorite. From the sound samples the cedar/myrtle was my favorite.

The last batch Luis sent the cedar/bocote was the favorite I played but on the video the spruce/cocobolo sounded best to me. Some days I prefer bright, some days warm. They all have the signature LfdM sound, just slight differences.

Wow these are incredible. I think the POC/Granadillo is my favorite sound/looks combination. Anxious to see how much these will cost. I wasn’t planning on another uke but I may make the investment.

Wow. They all sound terrific.

I liked the warmth of the cedar/myrtle best, followed closely by the Redwood/Sapele and POC/Granadillo.

Haha, well at $3300, it wasn't like I was about to click the Buy It Now button. :p

I was originally thinking these models might be at a lower price point than previous offerings, as these didn’t have a cutaway, slotted head, or arm bevel. But they sure sold fast. Congratulations to the new owners!

The last batch with no cutaway, but with the arm rest and slotted head stock sold for $3650. So these were $350 cheaper. Luis told me the solid headstock was almost the same amount of work as the slotted. Because he put so much detail into them, wood trim around exterior and multi line purfing.

Well at least you know you have very good taste.

My condolences for your loss Jim...;)

They all sounded great, but this was probably my favorite for tone as well. I preferred the aesthetics on some of the others, however.
