Nolyako is definitely smaller again at the neck than the mandolin. Mandolin is 30 something, Nolyako is just 26!!Have you compared her with your mandolin? 30mm is on the wide side of common for a mandolin nuts, and the mandolin fits 8 strings in four courses into that space. Steel strings don’t wobble as much as nylon, so mandolins can get away with much less clearance than a uke at the same scale length (closer to soprano than to your sopranissimo)
She's so small her intonation is haywire, but it works. Gives rise to those arctic sounding microtones. People say she sounds far eastern. I tune her to F4-Db4-Ebb4-Ab4. No, the double flat was not a typo. For my usual chords and general sonic structures to work, she has to be tuned to that very specific quarter tone.
