Redwood Slab

The wife wants a new mantle over the fireplace. I went looking for wood today and found this huge slab in the back of a guys shop. Imagine how many ukuleles one could get from a slab like that. Nice flame there.

Our home is a chalet that was built in 1980 by the former owner who had a love for wood that was a little over the top. Every room is paneled, walls and ceiling, with tongue and groove red cedar except for the two bathrooms, which are paneled, walls and ceiling, with heartwood redwood.
Whenever I'm using the facilities, I find myself thinking. "look at all those ukulele tops!"
