Ukulele News from NAMM 2019

Here's the latest video performance from Andrew and the HMS/The Ukulele Site crew. Featuring Lisa Lee's "Jellyfish Dream" Original Ukulele Instrumental with the new Kanile'a KSR model and Zach backing her up with an Islander guitar:

:shaka:

Very lovely playing! I like the sound of that Islander guitar too!

NAMM videos are good for triggering UAS. LOL.

Mango seems to be a wood being mentioned a lot. Is that a good substitute for koa?

Does anyone have a Rebel ukulele? They sure look interesting.
But after watching/listening to the videos, a long list of ukuleles look interesting.

Taken from the NAMM coverage from HMS: Kamaka wants to include the tenor size bell shaped Otha-San as a regular model and plans to bring back a 19" scale baritone, but they don't have them ready to show yet.

Tenor Otha-SAN would be cool. I hope they go with ebony binding and not rope. I jus am not a fan of rope binding. Tenor in that shape from Kamaka would be very cool

Aloha my fellow UU'ers!

HAPPY TUESDAY ... late evening here in Hawaii - 8:41pm!!! Here is Andrew's 2nd video from the 2019 NAMM Show, along with some of the HMS/The Ukulele Site crew, Uke at NAMM 2019 - Part 2- Performances & Previews:

Aloha!:shaka:

Leave it to me to ask a question totally unrelated to anything the video is intended for. I loved the great performances but I had a question about the HMS guy on the far right. Is he wearing Red Wing Work Chukkas in charcoal leather?

Ohana has rounded up what they debuted at NAMM, like a new Cynthia Lin signature model, a performance line with a solid Spruce top, some new gigbags, and finally the tenor-neck-on-a baritone-body they showed last year (BKT-70G):

Last year, they also had some guitars, including a tenor guitar that I have never seen in stores. Looks like Ohana is focusing more on ukes again now.

Even though the NAMM show ended last Sunday, new videos pop up from different makers, so I just keep compiling what I find.

Here is yet another look and discussion of the Takumi booth, with the boys from Southern Ukulele Store talking about Sumi Kobo, Gibson style inspired building, and Toda ukulele:

Not uke-specific (not specifically about uses at all).

8:28-9:04, John Mayer captures one reason why some may have headed towards a uke after (a) guitar(s).

There may be other a-ha moments in this video... I listened to it piecemeal so can't quite remember all of them...
